“I hate online dating!”
How come some people can meet online, fall in love and get married while others swipe day after day, send message after message and never make any progress?
Are they luckier? Do they have a better profile? Do you need to upgrade your account? Maybe, but that’s not the point.
Online dating sites and apps are simply tactics.
Match.com, eHarmony, Tinder, OKCupid and all the others (even AmishDating.com and ClownDating.com) are tools that allow you to meet people. What you need to determine is whether these are the right tools for you and how you can best use them.
Start by asking yourself:
What kind of relationship do I want? When people are on this site do they also want that relationship?
Do I prefer having lots of options to choose from or do I prefer to have fewer options? Am I already meeting enough people?
Does my profile accurately reflect who I am and what I want? Or am I sharing what I think will “work” the best?
Everything you do should move you towards your ultimate goal. If these types of sites and apps don’t do that, if they’re off strategy, it could be a complete waste of your time. On the other hand, if they are on strategy you might just say:
“I love online dating!”
