Sometimes you can’t see yourself clearly until you see yourself through the eyes of others. – Ellen DeGeneres
In advertising we often say, “perception is reality.” In other words, it doesn’t matter what you say about your brand, whatever the consumer thinks is who your brand really is.
Dating is no different. It doesn’t matter who you think you are, you need to know how you are perceived by others. Then you can identify what they don’t know about you that you want them to know. You may also learn things about yourself you might not have known… or not wanted to know.
Think about who knows you best and would give you honest answers. This could be friends, family, coworkers, or exes. Ask them questions to better understand who you are. What were their first impressions of you? What are you passionate about? What upsets you? When were you happiest in a relationship? At work? When were you least happy?
It isn’t enough to know yourself, you need to know how others see you. The reality is, that’s who you are.
